Dr Sulaiman Yusof is a Senior Consultant colorectal and general surgeon with over 15 years of experience in the field. He has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery, especially robotic surgery, and has performed numerous successful operations using the Da Vinci Xi system. He is passionate about providing high-quality, personalised, and emphatic care to his patients, and strives to achieve the best possible results for them. He graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2002. He then proceeded with his house officer and basic surgical training in the United Kingdom. Subsequently, he returned to Singapore to complete his Advanced Surgical Training at Changi General Hospital and obtained the Joint Speciality Fellowship in General Surgery in 2013.

Following that he pursued his chosen sub-specialty of colorectal surgery. He was awarded the Human Manpower Development Award from the Ministry of Health for a fellowship at the prestigious Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia. During his time there he gained a greater understanding and experience in managing patients with complex colorectal cancers.

Upon returning to Singapore, he further developed his skills from open to minimally invasive colorectal surgery. He was able to hone his minimally invasive skills on the robotic platform- being one of the few robotic surgeons to be listed on the Da Vinci Xi surgeon locator.

His dedication to development extended to his department where he held numerous administrative and educational posts – notably being the Director of Endoscopy. He is committed to teaching the next generation of doctors and played an integral role in undergraduate education, teaching students from Yong Yoo Lin, Lee Kong Chian and Duke’s medical programme. During this time, he held the post of Adjunct Associate Professor for his contributions to education. He also won numerous awards for excellence in education, along with the coveted Dean’s Honor Roll for teaching. He had also contributed multiple peer-reviewed journal articles over the years.

Sulaiman is known for his compassion and warmth, and through this, he has built long-lasting relationships with his patients. A testament to his consistent and quality of care, he has won numerous Singapore Health Quality Service Awards culminating with the prestigious Star Award in 2023.
